Students in Adirondack Center for Writing's week-long Story Publishing Camp will explore the fundamentals of narrative (characters, plot, setting, and more) and draft an original multi-page creative writing piece with the help of YA author Francesca Padilla.
Join us on Monday, August 28, as we gather to honor the remarkable achievements of the winners of the "My Dreams for My Community" Essay contest. In collaboration with Adirondack Voters for Change, we hosted this contest to inspire the young people of the North Country to share their visionary ideas for enhancing our community.

Kim Van Alkemade will read from her latest historical fiction novel, Counting Lost Stars, about a pioneering woman computer programmer in 1960 who helps a Holocaust survivor discover his mother’s fate. ACW’s Meet reporter and author, Tim Rowland (Jay, NY) to learn about his new series reporting on the regional housing crisis for the Adirondack Explorer. Tim will answer audience questions and share stories about his experiences reporting, writing, and finding an audience for his work.
Using a combination of Expressive Arts and Amherst Writers & Artists methods, author Suzanne Rancourt will dive deep into current metaphor practices that engage readers with the Natural World. Participants will learn refreshing strategies to awaken our senses and hone our craft. Simple, experiential, and human. All skill levels and genres welcomed.
