Our final postcard poem has arrived! For this limited edition broadside, a Vandercook SP20 was used to letterpress print the type from photopolymer plates, the shapes from foam, and small images from metal type. It was designed and printed by Laura Rowley of Illuminated Press (Trumansburg, NY) and features the poem “When They Turn The Sun On Again” by Sophie Morelli.
About the poet
Sophie Morelli is an Adirondacks-based poet holding a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Writing, as well as a Master’s Degree in English Education, both from SUNY Potsdam. She was an ACW Anne LaBastille resident in the fall of 2023 and has work featured with Querencia Press.
About the printer
This postcard poem was designed and printed by Laura Rowley, a teaching book artist and operator of Illuminated Press. Illuminated Press is a micro publisher that crafts books by hand. In an era that is increasingly digitized and automated, they foster connections to our physical world and to each other through tactile interactions with text and image.
This series of four poetry broadsides is a collaboration between Visiting Writer Erin Dorney and the Adirondack Center for Writing as part of the Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY) Artist Employment Program. You can learn more about the four selected poems, as well as the artists and printers we collaborated with for the series (all based in New York State!) here:
- Postcard Poems: Fallen Ash Tree by Joseph Bruchac
- Postcard Poems: “The Green Light” by Jackie Braje
- Postcard Poems: “Fireworks” by Laura Cordts
Thank you for supporting ACW through the purchase of a Postcard Poem (or a subscription for all 4)!

I would very much love to order some of these postcards but whenever I try to order the site says it is under maintenance?
