Mrs. Sofiya Maria Doyle was a simple woman. She was married for twenty years to her husband Ivan, she had two sons, and attended mass regularly. She didn’t drink, she didn’t smoke, and she rarely even left the house. After her husband died, Sofiya ran a small bookstore, and made a modest income. By all accounts she was a normal, unassuming woman.

So, why was she dead?

That’s what I here to find out. Mrs. Doyle’s home was taped off, there was already a small crowd forming of noisy neighbors and reporters. I quickly moved to the other side to avoid them. I flashed my badge, and made my way to the front of the house.
I noticed one officer standing outside of the house, a spooked expression on his face.

He was young, probably a rookie.

“Are you alright?’

The young officer looked at me, and turned back to the house.

“There’s something wrong with that house,” The officer told me.

I rolled my eyes and scoffed. “Of course there is, there’s a dead body in it,” I replied.

“There’s no such things as ghosts,” I added, before heading inside.

“What do we got?”

The Medical Examiner, Dr. Lum looked up. “She’s been dead for at least 6 hours, the cause of death appears to be a stabbing. They’re interviewing the son, he’s the one who found her.”

I nodded, family was always number 1 on the suspect list. I planned on interviewing him myself, after I got a look around.

The of running water coming from the bathroom caught my attention. I ran in the bathroom to see the shower running, steam fogging up the room. I quickly found the handle and shut the water off.

I looked around, noticing something written on the fogged up mirror. It looked to be nothing but gibberish but, I copied the letters down in my notebook. There were 5 letters: R-T-A-R-B.

I had not idea why someone would write this on the mirror, little did I know the answer would be more Supernatural.

  1. Noticed I made a couple errors. Whoops! It should be “What do we have?” It should also say the sound of running water.
