I know spring is here
when it’s warm enough
when Spring Peepers chirp
the whole night long.
When air warms
they sing briefly
but then retreat
to burrows, holes.
Spring is coming
but not yet here.
Trees still bare,
wind blows harsh,
with maybe snow,
so we wait.
When Peepers sing
all through the night
I know for sure:
Spring has arrived!
