You wear a coat of many colors,
And You sit up on the mountain side,
painting a path throughout the earth,
across the Great Divide of life.
And then I saw you change once again,
As the winds of time began to blow,
And, you let go of your bouquet,
Placing it gently on the ground.
The Earth, now, is a blanket of leaves,
On A colorful mountainous trail,
With flaming red embers of love,
golden brown carpets, of life lived.
I too was once like a vibrant hue,
Filling my world with many colors.
I lived a life full of splendor,
As I Basked in my glory days.
Then twists of fate, and winding roads,
Decisions I made, life took its toll.
A once bright light began to fade,
But I still yearned for younger days.
Enough! no more will I still lament,
On that which my life’s journey has wrought.
Lay tears of woe along the way,
And then I will be done with that.
I’ll look to change what is in my path.
Embrace the life that I now must have.
Make it a most precious gift.
A tender map is what I give.
My Season here is just almost done,
So I’ve shed my beauty one by one,
An open letter, trail of love.
My odyssey is what I leave.
