In the crowded airport
you stood out alone
across the way, waiting
for me to traverse the open space
You, the most handsome man
standing tall and ready
Blue suit, white shirt, sporting tie
but best a welcoming smile
for this young college girl
Nothing could have been better
As our eyes connected
my heart pounded
I felt as light as air
A balloon floating toward
your outstretched arms
You offered the promise
of a full and joyful time
Fifty three years later
you stand tall in all crowds
The morning and evening
piano man
“You know what I mean”
My hero, my love
The mainstay in
my past, present and future

  1. “A balloon floating toward your outstretched arms”: terrific. A lovely tribute to Keith!
