I am a recent graduate of the Creative Writing MFA program at Emerson College, where I specialized in fiction and taught four semesters of First Year Writing. Before earning my Master’s degree, I spent two years working and writing in New York City. As an undergraduate, I studied film and television production and earned my Bachelor’s in Communication from St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.
Ever since I discovered the arts of writing and storytelling, I have sought out every opportunity possible to share those arts, and my passion for them, with others. I have worn many hats over the years, such as editor-in-chief, managing editor, associate producer, professor, and most importantly, student. Being on both sides of the classroom has allowed me to develop an understanding of what it means to find and own your voice. I have found this to be a lesson best learned with a strong community at your side, and I am drawn to this very aspect of Adirondack Center for Writing. I feel pulled, also, toward the jam-packed calendar of programming already in action at ACW, and I am incredibly excited to join in on this work.
Anyone who knows me personally knows that my two greatest loves are writing and the Adirondacks. I grew up going to my grandma’s camp in Inlet, running around Eagle Bay and Old Forge with my cousins, reading The Adirondack Kids book series, and skiing at Gore Mountain. I am the most myself, and the most inspired, when I am among the trees and loons and people that reside in the Adirondacks. I feel as though I’ve waited just long enough to bring these two loves together, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to do so at ACW, in Saranac Lake, and beyond.
