The Adirondack Center for Writing is excited to announce the opening of its new event space at 15 Broadway in Saranac Lake with an open house during the ArtWalk on September 16, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm. All are welcome to visit the new center free of charge and meet the newest staff member, Tyler Barton!

“We are so thrilled to celebrate ACW’s very exciting expansion to our brand new event space,” said Nathalie Thill, executive director of Adirondack Center for Writing. “We’ve worked so hard for this moment alongside the rest of the ACW community and we can’t wait to welcome everyone for this momentous occasion. Stop by to check out the space and meet Tyler, our newest staff member.”

“What excites me most about joining ACW is the chance to learn from and collaborate with the vast and supportive art community Nathalie and Baylee have worked so hard to build over the years,” said Tyler Barton, the newest staff member at ACW. “I hope you’ll stop by and introduce yourself during the Third Thursday Artwalk—I can offer book recommendations in exchange for any advice for flourishing over the long Adirondack winter!”

Blast from the past!

Check out this note from September 3, 2012 about ACW’s first move into Saranac Lake. What a ride it’s been since then!

“As of Monday, September 3, ACW will be located at on Main St, right above the Artist Guild. We are very excited to share the building with several artists, surrounded by studios, and to be located right in the center of a community like Saranac Lake which has embraced the arts so completely.

Although we look forward to an exciting new future, we feel a deep sense of gratitude towards Paul Smith’s College, which has generously housed us for the past thirteen years. We would not be the thriving literary organization we are today if it hadn’t been for the support and kindness of the College of the Adirondacks. But this isn’t goodbye for good, ACW still plans to work with Paul Smith’s to bring a major author every year, this year for example Russell Banks will be reading at the VIC on September 13 at 7:30pm. We also plan to continue to work with PSC staff to bring in performance poets every year, a program that draws over 300 people ever year. This year, plan on hearing some incredible poetry on November 15th, check out our web site www.adirondackcenterforwriting.org for details on this and all our programs.

A central element of the Adirondack Center for Writing’s mission is to present programs throughout the Adirondacks. Our new location in Saranac Lake will not change that. It is very important to us as an organization to reach audiences living all over the region. Our programs take place everywhere from Saratoga Springs and Plattsburgh to Ticonderoga and Old Forge. We take great pains to reach every corner, and to forge partnerships with different organizations, libraries, and institutions as we offer the best programs for readers and writers in the Adirondacks. Please stop by our new office, right above the Artist Guild, doorway is located in the parking lot bordering Nori’s Village Market, you can’t miss us, and welcome us to the neighborhood.”
