I went out to the farm
that is not a farm,
no fields or buildings,
not even a driveway,
I have to walk in
cross the creek
hike up a hill
to get to open land.
On the way, one day,
I smelled a powerful
BIG CAT scent,
like at a zoo
by the cougers cage,
they are here too,
but there is no cage.
Neighbor saw one once
here, a silhouette,
and tracks bigger
then my hand
pressed in soft mud.
If I can smell it,
it is near, and
it can smell me too.
It could likely see me,
before I could see it.
I decided to leave –
return another day!
