OPEN HOURS AT ACW

MON – FRI | 9 – 5 PM
15 Broadway, Saranac Lake

If you’ve been meaning to make your writing life a part of your daily life, ACW Open Hours is here for you. You can use our space to work, unwind, or meet other readers and writers in our community. We also have a Teen Lounge where teenagers can write, read, and build community after school. All are welcome!

THIS WEEK’S WRITING PROMPT

Over this recent Juneteenth, we’ve thinking about how to make the abstract concept of freedom concrete. Try writing a poem, essay, or story that makes specific your experience of freedom. What does it mean to you? What does it not mean? What might it mean to live in a freer world?

Submit your response by Sunday, June 26, 2022. All creative writing responses will be shared on @adkctr4writing and adirondackcenterforwriting.org. Note: You are expected to edit your own submission before sending it.

RECENT PHOTOS

We're thrilled to announce that we've been awarded a grant from Creatives Rebuild New York (CRNY) to work with artist Erin Dorney ( @erindorney) over the next two years to bring new programs to the entire Adirondack Region, with the goal of working in each of the 12 counties! The first Adirondack teen writing anthology, a broadside series, and traveling installations will provide access points for the literary arts throughout this rural region, speaking to writing’s place as both an art form and an essential tool for growth, identity, and understanding. Adirondack Center for Writing will receive $226,400 to support the collaboration, including artist salaries and benefits, as well as programming costs.
#passerbypoems / Thanks to Henry and his sister for working together to make a poem for us late last week!
Tonight at @township7brewery! See you at 7.
