Exploring Transgender Poetics with Elliot Pecora
June 24 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Saturday, June 24, Noon
Adirondack Center for Writing – 15 Broadway, Saranac Lake
Free (donations suggested)
In this generative workshop led by Elliot Pecora, students will reflect on examples of poetry by TGNB+ writers to springboard the drafting of their own poems. After discussing how the physical body appears in the form of a poem, the workshop will focus on writing and sharing, offering input and affirmation to each other along the way. By the end, participants will have expanded their definition of poetry and played with form while also dissecting their relationship with body and gender.
Later the same day (7PM, 6/24) ACW will host a public open mic where anyone can share up to 5 minutes of writing. Participants in the writing workshop will be invited to take part in the open mic.
This event is part of the 2023 Tri-Lakes Pride Festival hosted by the Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance.
