“Mother Wit” An evening of rhythm and prose with Alvin Hall and Tyler Goldchain
September 12 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
In their second collaborative event, ACW and The Sembrich lure best-selling author of Driving the Green Book, Alvin Hall, and award-winning musician and composer, Tyler Goldchain, out of their separate realms to create new works that explore the space between music and the spoken word. Like their last partnership, this event promises to be very moving and inspiring.
Mother Wit, a term deeply rooted in the African American experience, refers to the wisdom of life lessons that parents and relatives instill in their young to develop navigating, negotiating, and survival skills. In stories loosely inspired by the theme, Alvin and Tyler spellbindingly weave words with textural sound and music to enhance the emotional resonance of freshly discovered narrative arcs that honor the cross-generational traditions and communities that individually shaped them.
