Jane Eyre, A New Musical

Join us for a casual reading of the book and lyrics at ACW! This will be a cozy presentation of a work-in-progress, a glimpse into the writing process, and the first time a full cast reads the piece out loud! (Please note there will be no music or singing at this reading.)

Set against the wild and haunting backdrop of 19th century Yorkshire, Jane Eyre, A New Musical tells the story of a solitary young governess, the unquenchable spirit burning beneath her calm exterior, and the courage with which she fights for love and independence.

This adaptation of the classic novel draws inspiration from the novel’s author, Charlotte Brontë, her remarkable literary family, and the magical, melancholy moorland home which defined their lives and work. The musical is performed by a small cast of 8 actors, incorporates the poetry of Charlotte, Emily, Anne, and Branwell Brontë, and will ultimately feature a score inspired by traditional English, Irish, and Scottish folk music.
