Join us for a happy hour of writing at ACW. We’re hosting a casual, drop-in writing session for writers of all genres and experience levels. It’s a chance to use our comfy space and helpful writing resources, so that you can get some writing done before the weekend starts. Plus, you’ll meet other writers and build your community.

Friday Night Writes also features a 30-minute guest writer talk and up to 30-minute q&a, from 6 – 7PM. February’s guest writer talk will be about the process of getting a literary agent with author and literary agent, Justin Brouckaert of Aevitas Creative Management.

How to Get a Literary Agent—and Why

In this talk, literary agent Justin Brouckaert will explain how to navigate the often confusing, frustrating and demoralizing process of finding an agent—and then what to expect from that partnership once a successful connection has been made. Topics will include how to find literary agents who are a good fit for your work; how write a clear, compelling query letter; what questions you should ask potential agents; what you should or shouldn’t expect from your agent; and whether you even need an agent in the first place.

Justin Brouckaert is a literary agent at Aevitas Creative Management representing literary fiction and nonfiction of all stripes, including such New York Times bestsellers as Amber Share’s Subpar Parks and Marisa Franco’s Platonic. He is the author of LOVE STORIES (Long Day Press) and the monthly newsletter SUBLURBIA.
