Every Queer Story Starts Somewhere: A Live Storytelling Workshop
June 29, 2024 @ 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Saturday, June 29, 3-5 PM, ACW, $10 Suggested donation
The queer community is bursting with inspiring, harrowing, hilarious, and moving narratives. But, how do you turn an interesting anecdote into a compelling story with a great hook and a clear beginning, middle and end? Better yet: how do you perform it? In this workshop, attendees will learn how to craft compelling slam-style stories with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Tell or read your story live at ACW’s Pride Open Mic to follow later in the evening. Or, bring your story to ACW’s Howl Story Slam as it travels around the North Country all year long.
Led by author and organizer of Potsdam Pride and the annual Queer Tales story slam, Rebecca Donnelly.
ACW’s Pride-themed programming is supported by the Adirondack Diversity Initiative.

Rebecca Donnelly was born in England and has lived in California, Florida, New Mexico, and just outside the Adirondack State Park in northern New York. She is the author of more than 30 books for young readers, including the Indies Introduce/Kids’ Indie Next pick How to Stage a Catastrophe. Her nonfiction book Total Garbage: A Messy Dive into Trash, Waste, and Our Worldwas a School Library Journal Best Book of 2023.
