Comics 101 Seminar with Sumit Kumar
November 2, 2024 @ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
$10 – $50 sliding scale
Saturday, November 2, 12 – 3pm, @ ACW
Learn the basics of cartooning and storytelling with graphic novelist Sumit Kumar, owner of Bakarmax animation studio. Kumar will help reduce your fear of drawing with simple exercises, varied approaches to illustration, and his personal tips and tricks. Students will explore how comics tell stories using a sequence of images as they craft their own 2-panel comic. Kumar will also share about his process for drafting stories and take students through the essential elements of his studio. Finally, resources and methods will be shared to inspire students to continue drawing long after the workshop ends.
This seminar is open to adults and young writers and artists, perfect for amateurs and those who have never made a drawing.
We’re offering this seminar at a sliding scale fee of “Pay What You Can.” The large majority of ACW programs are free, but in order to help compensate our instructors fairly, we ask attendees who can afford it to pay $50 and those on a budget to choose the price that’s right for them.
