A Letter to Burn

June 18, 2025 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm

Free

Explore themes of release and catharsis through A Letter To Burn, a writing workshop in celebration of PRIDE month.

What do you need to let go of? What do you need to burn? Burning letters is an ancient practice that has been used to connect with emotions and release them. Positive or negative, all connections can be overwhelming; this guided workshop will involve writing to the people or things that have a hold on us and letting them go. Maggie Napper will guide workshop participants through a cathartic session of writing then burning letters with an emphasis on personal reflection. Participants are not required to read their work aloud during this event.

Maggie Napper is a poet based in the Adirondack mountains. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, she teaches writing workshops on a range of topics involving place and community. Her work has appeared in Boreal Zine, The Laurentian Mag, and was a 2024 James Ligon Price III Award Finalist. In her free time, Maggie is a member of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
