“Lucas?… You awake?

“…Actually, it’s just Luke. And you’re Tim…just Tim… never a Timothy. So you said.”

“…Good memory.”

“…Well, it’s only been about five hours… and we’ve been asleep for three, so I haven’t been clogging my brain with much else.”

“…My brain hurts. Too much booze.”

“Yup… Coffee’s brewing.”

“…You’ve already been up?”

“Yup. I’ll nap later… it’s Sunday…I think…”

“…So…Luke…”

“…So?…”

“…This was OK?”

“Yup… A total surprise…. I haven’t been out in over a year… Bar scenes are a thing-of-the-past for me.”

“Me, too…way past…I was widowed two years ago…after 35 years.”

“…A woman?”

“Oh, yes… four kids and one grandchild… they named him Tim….”

“…Nice….I’m widowed, too. Neil… after 30 years.”

“…Hmmmm…there’s a story…two old fucks, I guess…I’m 59… and you are—”

“That’s right… I am… I am thereabouts.”

“…So….footloose once again in Boston.”

“…With arch supports, maybe…”

“That’s funny.”

“Actually, I’m not kidding…even when I run…”

“Right, you run…I remember you said that.”

“And you bike, you said…”

“…Easier on the knees…I don’t want any unnecessary hardware…”

“Switching out running shoes regularly is key for me…”

“…So…Luke…you want to do this again?”

“…No.”

“…No?…oh, sorry…”

“No…I want a date first…in daylight. No bed activities.”

“…Oh, good…so, pick a day this week.”

“…Thursday.”

“…Wednesday?”

“Yup. Tuesday it is… Coffee’s ready. How do you take it?”

“…Coffee in bed?”

“…But no newspaper.”

“Cream, no sugar.”

“You got it.”

“…A kiss first?”

“Sure thing, Grandpa.”

“Arch supports? Really?”
