You are the second thing I reach for
each morning, rolling over
still cocooned in the last few moments of sleep.
Metal appendage, glass covered in fingerprints.
Mine, yours, a third.
Needed to correct a lens
clouded with age, memories, dreams.
They provide constant protection,
keeping the knife at bay.
Do these make me look smart?
Smart is damn sexy.
Don’t make passes at those who wear glasses!
Definitely not true.
Two times two is four eyes doing the work,
absorbing the muse.
Not rose colored,
colored with life, colored with love
colored with pride.
