Little lake not far
off the highway,
but no town, nestled
on the prairie with
some trees adorning
its shores.
“Dad, you can read,”
young daughter said,
“as long as you want,
it’s Father’s day.”
He began the book as she
ran off to play, then returned
ten minutes later.
“I’m bored.
Let’s go home.”
Loving father did,
knowing
her heart was true.
